Last week was Thanksgiving and I had a great time. On Thanksgiving Day, I went out to my parents’ property on Lake Travis. The cabin/house my family has been building for the past 15+ years is nearing completion. One of my best friends (and housemate) also joined us with his family (the Wogans). They brought bulgogi (Korean BBQ) which was great because I am not the biggest fan of turkey.
The best part of Thanksgiving was going to Garner State Park with my friends Jessica and Jonathan. We left Friday morning and spent the afternoon hiking. That night we cooked over an open fire which I haven’t done in awhile. Even though it wasn’t as cold as I expected it was nice to have a fire. We decided to go night hiking to one of the two official caves. The crystal cave was slightly disappointing because it didn’t go very far. We also missed the dance party that the park held that night. Luckily Jonathan’s tent didn’t leak because it rained quite a lot that night. We did some more hiking on Saturday and we explored a cave that was off the map. It was the closest I have ever been to being truly claustrophobic. The cave went back more than 100ft and was completely dark when the flashlight (Jessica’s iphone app) was turned off. I definitely need to visit Garner State Park more. It is a great place to do more than hiking.
